Your ideas.
In your own hand.

01 / Handwriting
Start with what comes naturally.
Write notes and musical symbols directly on the staff. Legato is being built to recognize familiar musical gestures and turn them into clean, editable notation.
Keep the immediacy of putting an idea on paper, with room to develop it into a score.
Handwriting
- Write notes and symbols by hand
- Turn handwritten input into clean notation
- Develop your idea in the same score
For capturing and developing musical ideas
02 / Assisted transcription
Hear the detail. Keep the context.
Bring reference audio into your notation workspace. Adjust playback speed or pitch, and use stem separation to focus on the part you are trying to hear.
The aim is to support your ear and your musical judgment while you work out the notes.
Assisted transcription
- Adjust playback speed
- Shift the pitch of reference audio
- Separate stems for focused listening
For studying parts and working out arrangements
03 / Connected performance
Let the score move with the music.
Connect to a supported digital audio workstation over Wi-Fi. Score highlighting and automatic page turns are designed to follow playback as you perform.
Keep your place in the arrangement, from rehearsing a part to playing it through.
Connected performance
- Connect with a supported DAW over Wi-Fi
- Follow playback in the score
- Turn pages automatically during playback
For rehearsal and performance with a DAW

Good to know
A few questions,
answered.
What is Legato?
Legato is an iPad music app in development. It brings handwritten notation, assisted transcription, and connected performance into one workspace.
Can I download it now?
A public release date and download link have not been announced. Availability and supported device details will be published here when they are confirmed.
Does assisted transcription automatically write the score?
The described workflow helps you listen and write: speed adjustment, pitch shifting, and stem separation support your own transcription. It is not a promise of automatic audio-to-score conversion.
Which DAWs will it support?
DAW compatibility is still being finalized. Performance features depend on a supported connection; the compatible applications and setup instructions will be listed before release.
Who is it being designed for?
Musicians who work with notation: composers developing ideas, arrangers listening closely to recordings, and performers following a score alongside DAW playback.
